About Kelsey Weinberg

For as long as I can remember I’ve been interested in health and wellness and the different aspects complement each other. But it took me until my mid-30s to become a licensed massage therapist. In elementary school the mother of a friend was a massage therapist. My friend and I would regularly give each other shoulder rubs and I thought “If I like getting back rubs this much, then I want to do this for other people too.” Participating in sports teams (soccer, cross country, tennis, and competitive swimming) in elementary, middle, and high school expanded my interest in health and wellness.

My experience in school with math and science nixed the idea of going to massage school after high school because I didn‘t think I could handle the science I’d need to learn. So instead, I attended Washington State University and earned a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology. After graduation, I bounced from industry to industry, including retail and disaster restoration cleaning, before settling on working as a prep cook in grocery store delis. I also spent some time learning about Pilates, personal training, and a little about meditation.

When I married my husband in August 2019, we were living in West Seattle and where there was a massage school a couple of miles from home. With the encouragement of my husband, I enrolled at The Northwest Academy of the Healing Arts for the January 2020 cohort. COVID made it tough to learn a hands on trade but here I am anyway!

I finally got my license and started working as a licensed massage therapist in January 2020 and never looked back.i have worked in a variety of work places such as a whiplash clinic, a chiropractors office, a Hilton hotel spa, and a salt and crystal spa. The salt spa exposed me to sound baths and vibrational sound therapy and how powerful meditation practices can be. These different perspectives and approaches to bodywork has helped me define who I am and who I want to be as a massage therapist. I truly enjoy incorporating therapeutic and relaxation techniques to provide tailored massage to each individual client. In the years to come, I am excited to learn more about fascial work, deep tissue techniques, visceral and abdominal massage, craniosacral, cupping, scraping, and hydrotherapy and cryotherapy applications to work the whole body focusing on TMJD, headaches, sciatica pain, and plantar fasciitis.

When I am not at work you can find me spending time with my husband, cuddling my border collie/staffy pup, cooking, working out at the gym, reading almost any kind of book, or studying about sound baths or massage.
